So, if you were watching my social media last weekend you’ll know I was lucky enough to go along to the Blue Fizz boho and retro wedding festival at Bridwell Park.

What. An. Event.

There really are no words.

Just kidding, you know me, I can always find words!

.

As a relatively new venue to the Devon wedding scene, I was surprised at how few locals knew of it Bridwell. Especially the taxi drivers, but that’s a story for another day! This completely beguiling Georgian House is tucked away in the countryside, surrounded by beautiful grounds, stunning views across the Culm Valley, and it’s very own herd of deer which was a major highlight.

With the entire house and grounds available for exclusive hire for your wedding (at an incredibly reasonable price may I add), this versatile venue offers couples a blank canvas and world of opportunity.  The house, orangery, chapel, parkland and old stables offer something special and unique.

So, this weekend I had the honour of spending a couple nights in one of the utterly delectable stable rooms – I kid you not when I say it was the best sleep I’ve had in years.

.

Saturday and Sunday were spent on the grounds at Bridwell as the parkland played host to a diverse range of structures – a dome, tipis, pointy tipped marquees and traditional tents sprawled across the grass. Refreshments were on hand and whatever the word is for a group of wedding suppliers – herd, throng, swarm or maybe horde – gathered to showcase their services.

Both days saw brides and grooms in their hundreds, even in the pouring rain. And who says us southerners are soft?! I got to chat to SO MANY lovely people, to hear about their wedding plans and talk about Pasties & Petticoats and how it will help them on their way.

.

I had an amazing giveaway in partnership with some of my wedding collective members too – I’ll be drawing winners this week so keep an eye on my facebook page for winners – thank you to prize contributors Two Be Wed, Catherine Spiller, Blushing Flamingos, Wed Print Pro and Claire’s Sweet Temptations.

What’s more, I got to catch up with some fabulous wedding collective members, and finally meet some that I hadn’t yet!

So, shout outs to…

World Inspired Tents

After sooooo long emailing one another, I finally got to meet Layla at World Inspired Tents, along with owner Donna (not me, another Donna, confusing right?). I was absolutely blown away by their incredible tipis – how on earth such a huge space can feel so warm, cosy and homely is beyond me, but they achieved it. With incredible styling and decoration from a variety of local suppliers, it was a real sensory experience being in those tents. Fire pits blazed with bowls of marshmallows ready to be toasted. Tables laid up with the most beautiful place settings and decor. Benches with furs and sheepskins and a chillout area with squishy cushions and leather sofas. This really was a sight to behold and like nothing I’ve experienced before.

Lovely Bridal

Housed in the gorgeous Orangery I met the gorgeous Dawn from Lovely Bridal – a funky bridal boutique in Honiton, Devon. I dreamily browsed Dawn’s rails of gowns as she explained that every dress they stock is unique to them – you won’t find their styles anywhere else in the southwest. Whether you’re a barefoot bohemian babe, a classic romantic beauty, or a cool fashion-forward goddess, you’ll find a fabulous frock for you!

Emma Stoner Photography

After a weekend of talking non stop, I FINALLY caught up with Emma (and smiley Lila) on Sunday afternoon. Emma’s style is so warm and real and the love and happiness almost jump out of her photographs, meeting her was a real extension of that. We chatted over the fire pit, toasting marshmallows and talking all things weddings and life. Emma adores shooting alternative weddings, so if you’re looking for something fun and creative you really must look her up!

The Wed Hub

Danielle is basically an all round superstar and lovely lady. A talented wedding stationer who has recently opened The Wedding Hub, a gorgeous shop in Plymouth crammed with wedding pretties.  A talented creative who’s not afraid to bare her soul and give her all, which only shines through in the passion she shows for what she does.

Thomas Frost

Being a Cornish supplier, Tom is someone I bump into regularly! His ingenious displays of his incredible work never fail to impress, and his smiley demeanour is always great to be around. Tom also very kindly offered up the prize of thank you cards from his sister business Wed Print Pro

.

The Prop Factory

I am completely besotted with the huge range of props The Prop Factory has available, so it was great to finally meet Carmen and chat about their business. These guys design and make everything themselves which is just mind boggling when you check out their range. During the event itself they supplied a cool old fashioned fairground – I’ll let the pictures do the talking… (see bottom of post for more!)

It was brilliant to catch up with these P&P Wedding Collective lovelies too…

Mrs Jutson Photography

One of the newest members of the Pasties & Petticoats Wedding Collective, the lovely Louise is a super talented photographer with a real eye for capturing a love story. Her commitment and dedication to the couples she works with is second to none.  Such a warm and friendly lady, Louise exudes love and calm.

.

Two Be Wed

A little while back, at a wed meet up event in Cornwall, I met a lovely lady who was there on behalf of her daughter, smashing the networking thing and chatting away to all the suppliers about Bree and her wedding planning services.

.

Enchanted Brides

Jo has been a much valued partner of Pasties & Petticoats ever since our relaunch in January 2016 – the provider of stunning images for our new website design and contributor of gobsmackingly beautiful inspiration ever since. Jo is fearless, an outdoor adventurer and never afraid to get amongst the elements for that perfect shot.

And finally, a huge shout out to our newest Wedding Collective members who have joined up since meeting at Bridwell…
