Six years ago today, I hit publish on my very first post here on Pasties & Petticoats!
At the time I was working as a marketing and communications manager at the Council, with a small professional photography business shooting weddings and portraits on the weekends.
I was (and still am!) a HUGE fan of blogs, and as a photographer would have loved Cornwall to have had it’s own wedding blog, so that I could submit real weddings and see local businesses being celebrated.
After some time, I decided to go for it and launch just such a thing, and on 12th January 2012, Pasties & Petticoats was born.
It started as a hobby – something I did on evenings and weekends, but over time I grew to love it more and more. Eventually in 2016 I quit my Council job, got rid of my studio and stopped shooting professionally, and made Pasties & Petticoats my one and only. And I haven’t looked back!
I can’t tell you how lucky I feel to now wake up every day doing something I just love so much. I’ve expanded to cover Devon as well as Cornwall, won the South West Wedding Awards media category, posted hundreds of blog posts, launched the Wedding Collective, shared the most stunning and heart-warming real weddings, beautiful styled shoots and of course worked with THE most incredible wedding suppliers.
I won’t ramble or turn this into a teary Oscar speech, but I do want to thank every single one of you that has supported Pasties & Petticoats over the years. Reading posts, sending in content, parting with your hard earned marketing budget to entrust me with promoting your business, sharing our social media posts, inviting us to media partner, speaking at events… every part of the journey so far has been amazing and it’s down to every one of you. Thank you!
Here’s to another six…..
