Harriet and Ben’s Trevibban Mill Wedding {images by Nick Bailey}

Trevibban Mill is an organic vineyard hidden in the heart of the Cornish countryside – a gorgeous new venue as showcased in Harriet and Ben’s real wedding feature.

Thank you Harriet and Ben for sharing their day, and fabulous local wedding photographer Nick Bailey for sending in his beautiful images (as always, supplier links at the bottom of the post!)…

The proposal

After meeting at The University of Gloucestershire in 2009, Ben proposed six and a half years later whilst putting together IKEA furniture on the floor of our very  empty living room. As we had bought our first home two days before it was a huge but wonderful surprise!

Describe your day

October 21st, the arrival of Storm Brian. Ben and his Groomsmen stayed in a AirBnB looking over Fistral Beach the night before the big day and I got ready at home with my Maid of Honour and Bridesmaids. The girls were ready an hour early so there was enough time to watch Storm Brian build outside!

We married at St Colan Church, near Newquay. I walked down the aisle to Stevie Wonder’s For Once In My Life and was met by Ben and his Best Man Billy holding each other hands for support. As we don’t take life too seriously, there was a Dr Suess reading and the vicar had everyone in stitches with a hilarious alternative  version of wedding vows.

We left the church to Jess Glynn’s Hold my Hand.

As Storm Brian was imminent, the wind was in charge of the confetti and both Ben and Harriet got a good mouthful each!

We arrived at Trevibban Mill Vineyard in Jaguar XF driven by Ben’s Father, David. We imagined our guests would be able to explore to vineyard, lake and old
mill, but it was definitely a wellies and brolly affair; instead guests were greeted by Harbour Brewery Pilsner Larger, Peach Bellinis, a selection of canapes and
everyone sang and danced to the Cornish shanty music by The Newquay Rowing Club Singers.

The venue decoration was all made by us and our family.

The wedding cake and Lemon Curd Pots were made by my Mum, Heather, and the place settings made with my trusty label maker.

The meal, prepared by the incredible Andy Appleton of Appletons at the Vineyard, was a sharing platter of grilled meats, roasted vegetables and potatoes with salsa verde.

Between courses, and when the rain stopped for 5 minutes, we were able to have a few photos between the vines. Just after the final shot, my veil flew off into the next row of vines!

My Dad started off the speeches with all the tales of the Stag Do and also included an all boys sing-a-long of Oasis’ Wonderwall. Ben followed with the story of how neither he or I  knew how they met, and a tribute to my late Grampy. Billy finished off the speeches with childhood stories and telling Ben he preferred his Dad more than him!

Our first dance was Billy Ocean’s Love Really Hurts Without You and everyone was encouraged to join the dance floor as soon as possible!

The night ended with Ben, Matthew (Ben’s cousin) and Billy singing Wonderwall to a dwindling but enthusiastic crowd.
