When the search for your perfect wedding dress is complete, make sure your next job is to seek out the perfect underwear.
Don’t underestimate the importance of this task (or how long it might take). I thought the underwear would be easy in comparison to the dress, but actually I think the opposite is true. I searched high and low for the perfect underwear set. The bra had to be strapless, not too high (because of the cut of my dress), pretty, flattering AND… most of all, comfortable. It wasn’t an easy (or cheap) task, but I’m so glad I did it. It’s amazing how a matching set of lingerie with a perfectly fitting bra can make all the difference not only to how you feel, but also to how your dress looks.
A few days ago I had an email from Moonrise Lingerie, who specialise in beautiful wedding underwear. They’ve kindly written a little something for us today, sharing from their expert viewpoint the difference it can make to have the perfect undies…
What goes beneath the dress is almost as important as the dress itself, and with a bit of research and careful thought you may be surprised at what effects can be achieved with the right bridal underwear. It’s quite surprising how many brides leave getting their bridal lingerie to the very last minute, especially considering how much time and effort goes into finding the perfect wedding gown.
Of course every bride is unique in their figure, choice of dress style and personal taste, so what works for one person may not work as well for someone else. A good choice of wedding lingerie can help achieve a slimming effect by pulling in the waist, accentuating the bust, maybe flattening the tummy area or just smoothing the figure to get a nicely silhouetted shape. To give some inspiration and idea as to what’s out in the wedding market today, here’s a few favourites to give some ideas;
Juliette Lace Corset
Although corsets have been around since the 1500’s, the wedding corset is still proving a very popular choice with the modern bride for achieving upper body support and the waist cinching slimming effect you get with a corset.
This Juliet Lace corset although less of the traditional styling it does have some exquisite lace detailing. It gives a nice medium level of support with its underwiring and light boning. Wonderfully romantic with its delicately laced edged finishing and light lace up ribbon tie featuring on both the corset and the matching thong. Available in the more traditional bridal white and with detatchable suspender straps it’s a fantastic choice for brides looking to enjoy a spring/ summer wedding.
Floral Tapestry Corset
When choosing a corset it should be a size or two smaller than your regular sizing to allow it to pull in and reduce the waistline by a few inches, and ideally have a tie fastening to provide some adjustment.
The Floral Tapestry corset is an excellent choice for that elegant, vintage look, with the light floral design and jacquard material lending itself beautifully to a traditional feel. The strapless design and double tie up ribbon at the back gives it the flexibility to suit many shapes of figure and dress styles and the antique white colour is an adorable touch. The removable suspender straps allow for bridal hold ups or a set of lace top wedding stockings to complete the look.
Satin Bow Bustier
A bustier is a little more forgiving and still has the effect of pushing up your bust but by a lesser tightening of the torso than a traditional styled corset.
Now if you’re looking to create a first impression to remember for the wedding night, then this satin bow bustier is perfect for doing just that. The lightly padded underwiring gives medium support to empahsise and wonderfully define your figure whilst the lace overlay and ruffled lace hemline makes for a fantastically stylish looking outfit. A great strapless solution, which is able to work for many dress styles. Finish the look off with matching thong and stockings and you’re sure to create a jaw dropping reaction that won’t be forgotten.
Rokoko II Bridal Bra Set
Of course many styles of wedding gowns that are in favour this season are off the shoulder in design, leading the bride to a strapless bra or corset if the bust area is needing some support.
The Rokoko II is a beautiful bra which features optional removable straps. It has a very stylish ¾ cup and excellent stitching offering you maximum support throughout the day whether you wear it with straps or strapless option. Although a very modern design of bra it does have a very rustic feel to it, with the lavish embroidered swirls and cream bow detail along with a silicon support in the under band.
This a fantastic all rounder bra with fully removable push up pads, matching thong and suspender belt to complete the look, it makes a perfect choice for the wedding day.
Pin Thin Bodywrap
Bridal body shapewear is fast becoming popular among today’s brides, as you can achieve a more zonal slimming and toning effects such as flattening the tummy, slenderising the thighs or smoothing out the hips.
This pin thin bodywrap is a stylish high waist bodywrap with a thong design for comfort. It’s design is intended for maximum shaping around the hips and waist line, it offers a nice mid body toning solution where the bust area is supported by the gown itself. That said, you might want something a little different to help you create that first wedding night impression to your newlywed, so you might want to choose some more sexy underwear for that occasion….
This beautiful Samara chemise is a sassy, figure hugging version of a 1920s style flapper dress, with a real unique and sexy look to it. It’s available in an a classy ivory or a traditional white and decorated with gorgeously delicate black lace you can accessorise with either cream, white or black stockings. Beautifully finished off with a long ribbon on the front.
